Port of Ho Chi Minh City
Review and History

The Port of Ho Chi Minh City lies on the Song Sai Gon (Saigon) River about 2.7 nautical miles north-northeast of Saigon Port and about 85 kilometers north of the Mekong River Delta as the river flows into the South China Sea. The Port of Ho Chi Minh City reflects the influence of the French after a century of colonial rule and the United States after almost two decades during the United States' Vietnam War. In 2004, more than 3.4 million people called the Port of Ho Chi Minh City home.
