The town of Conneaut offers visitors a variety of things to do. The Port of Conneaut offers some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world, and it is well known for its rich fishing grounds that offer world-class walleye and steelhead fishing. There are 17 covered bridges in Ashtabula County, including the country's longest. Fifteen area wineries produce wonderful wines, and the climate supports some of the best grape farms in the eastern United States. The Port of Conneaut has the largest beach in Ashtabula County, and its Community Park overlooks Lake Erie. The 86-acre Conneaut Wildlife Area provides plentiful white tailed deer, wild turkey, and squirrels for hunters and abundant wildlife-watching opportunities. The Port of Conneaut's 1935 Harbor Lighthouse is a popular local landmark.

The Port of Conneaut has a humid continental climate with a wide range of temperatures from season to season. Summers are warm and can be hot and humid. Winters are cold. Port of Conneaut temperatures range from an average high of 21°C (70°F) in July and August to an average low of about -4°C (25°F) in January and February. Most rainfall comes to the Port of Conneaut in June and September (about 11 centimeters or 4.25 to 4.5 inches). Humidity levels are relatively stable throughout the year in the Port of Conneaut, ranging from a low of over 75% in April to a high of about 82% in September. Snow comes to the Port of Conneaut from October until early May, and over 60 centimeters (24.5 inches) of snow can fall in December and January.

The almost 60-0acre Conneaut Township Park contains a 0.6-kilometer (0.4-mile) sand beach that ranges from 305 to 61 meters (1000 to 200 feet) in width. The Port of Conneaut Township Park Boardwalk connects the parking area to the shore. The park contains a public pavilion, snack shop, and a large playground. Visitors will enjoy the 180-degree view of Lake Erie and the historic lighthouse at one end of the beach. The large playground offeres many rides, swing sets, jungle gyms, slides, and merry-go-rounds.

Every October, residents of and visitors to the Port of Conneaut enjoy the Covered Bridge Festival that includes a driving tour of the county's covered bridges. Held at the Ashtabula County Fairgrounds about 30 kilometers (18 miles) southwest of the Port of Conneaut, the festival is held on the second full weekend in October. Festival activities include a parade, entertainment, a farmers' market, a quilt show, demonstrations, crafts, contests, rides and games for kids, and plentiful food.
