The weather at Plaquemines Parish Port is warm. Winter temperatures seldom fall below 4 °C (40 °F), and summer temperatures climb to the high 30s Celsius (90s Fahrenheit). The area can be wet, and afternoon thunderstorms are common in the summer. Hurricane season lasts from early June through the end of November.
As the southernmost parish in Louisiana, Plaquemines Parish holds a universe of ecological wonders. Hunters and fishermen will find an almost-unlimited range of wildlife and fish there. For the time being, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has closed commercial and recreational fishing south of Port Sulphur due to the discovery of the tilapia in the waterways.
