The Port of Saxman has a maritime climate with warm winters, cool summers, and a lot of precipitation. Temperatures range from an average 7.7°C (46°F) to 15°C (59°F) in the summer and from-1.7°C (29°F) to 8.9°C (48°F) in the winter. The Port of Saxman gets over 163 inches of rain each year and 69 inches of snow.

Visitors to the Port of Saxman seldom miss a visit to the Saxman Totem Village. The park contains over 30 totems that were carved by Tlingit and Haida natives. Moved here from their original locations in the 1930s, the totems have been faithfully restored by native carvers. The Port of Saxman Totem Village Tour includes the park, historic sites, the waterfront, the rainforest, and the beach.
