While not well-known as a tourist destination, the Port of Tuticorin has some sights that visitors will not want to miss. The Kalakadu Wildlife Sanctuary, a popular spot for wildlife lovers and bird watchers, covers 223 square kilometers with varied plants and animals in the Tirunelveli district. Visitors will enjoy seeing several species of macaque, sloth bears, elephants, gaur, tigers, panthers, wild dogs, and pangolins.
The Mundanthurai Wildlife Sanctuary, also in the Tirunelveli district, contains 567 square kilometers of environs from dry deciduous forests to tropical wet evergreens to patches of reeds. Except for elephants and gaur, the same wildlife species roam the sanctuary as at Kalakadu.
