The Kinuura Port Authority's jurisdiction includes five port cities and four towns on Chita Bay and the Tokoname city airport. The Port of Kinuura (Japanese) authority also manages a river fishing port in Hekinan City. The Central Pier extends across the Yahagi River with an opening for vessels to travel upriver and an undersea tunnel that connects east-west traffic. The Central Pier is the cornerstone of the Port of Kinuura.
The major industrial port is located in the area of major manufacturing industries, and land reclamation projects have created space for industrial facilities producing power, steel, and office machinery as well as businesses and coastal areas.
In 2008, the Port of Kinuura handled a total of 21.5 million tons of cargo, including 14.6 million tons of foreign trade and 6.9 million tons of domestic traffic. Foreign trade included 13.9 million tons of imports dominated by coal (10.1 million tons), corn (1.3 million tons), wood chips (1 million tons), and liquefied petroleum gas (683.3 thousand tons). Foreign exports of 713 thousand tons were dominated by scrap metal (316.7 thousand tons), steel (315.2 thousand tons). Domestic cargoes included inbound traffic of 2.5 million tons and transshipments of 4.4 million tons.
Private piers in the Port of Kinuura extend for a total length of 5701 meters and offer alongside depths from 9 to 24 meters. The 12 berths at the Port of Kinuura's Yutaka Take can accommodate 20 vessels with from 550 DWT to 40 thousand DWT.
Two private Port of Kinuura berths in Handa City include the dolphin godown at 210 meters long with alongside depth of 18 meters, which can handle two vessels up to 10 thousand DWT at the same time, and Taki Quay at 130 meters long with alongside depth of 12 meters, which can accommodate one vessel of up to 15 thousand DWT.
The Port of Kinuura has two private berths at Takahama. The JTEKT Pier is 150 meters long with alongside depth of 20 meters, and it can accommodate one 15 thousand DWT vessel. The Azai Pier is 21 meters long with alongside depth of 10 meters, and it can accommodate one one-thousand DWT vessel.
The Port of Kinuura has 13 private wharves in Hekinan City. The Toyota Pier is 300 meters long with alongside depth of 13 meters, and it can accommodate three three-thousand DWT vessels. The Mazda Pier is 120 meters long with alongside depth of 11 meters, and it can accommodate one one-thousand DWT vessel. The Grain Pier is 162 meters long with alongside depth of 24 meters and can accommodate one 40-thousand DWT vessel.
Showa Shell Sekiu KK operates three dolphins in the Port of Kinuura's Hekinan City. The C Dolphin is 224 meters long with alongside depth of 24 meters and can accommodate one vessel of 45 thousand DWT. The A and B Dolphins both offer depth of 11 meters. The A Dolphin is 65 meters long and can accommodate one one-thousand DWT vessel, while the B Dolphin is 72 meters long and can accommodate one 1.5 thousand DWT vessel.
The Port of Kinuura private berths at Hekinan City also include nine berths at three Hekinan electric lift coal piers. The East electric lift coal pier is 50 meters long with alongside depth of 20 meters and it can accommodate one three-thousand DWT vessel. The North-South electric lift coal pier has two berths totaling 660 meters in length with alongside depth of 24 meters that can accommodate vessels to 70 thousand DWT. Six berths handle electrical sub-materials. They are a total of 610 meters in length with alongside depth of 13 meters, and they can accommodate vessels to three thousand DWT.
Four remaining private berths in Hekinan City total 465 meters in length. The Port of Kinuura's Itochu Pier is 195 meters long with alongside depth of 24 meters, and it can accommodate vessels to 40 thousand DWT. Accommodating vessels to one thousand DWT, the Port of Kinuura's Metalwork Pier is 120 meters long with alongside depth of 11 meters. Two remaining piers with alongside depth of 20 meters total 150 meters in length, and each can accommodate vessels to 15 thousand DWT.
Port of Kinuura public wharves contain 56 berths totaling 5600 meters in length with alongside depths from 8 to 24 meters. In the Yutaka Take, the main quay has three berths of 180 meters with alongside depth of 9 meters that can accommodate vessels of up to 700 DWT.
The Port of Kinuura's Yutaka Take North Pier No 1 is 185 meters long with alongside depth of 20 meters, and it can accommodate vessels to 15 thousand DWT. Yutaka Take North Pier No 2 in the Port of Kinuura is 240 meters long with alongside depth of 24 meters, and it can accommodate vessels to 30 thousand DWT. Accommodating vessels of five thousand DWT, the Port of Kinuura's Yutaka Take North Pier No 3 is 130 meters long with alongside depth of 15 meters.
Thirty-one Port of Kinuura public berths are located in Handa City, most of them at the Central Pier. The Port of Kinuura's Central Pier No. 1 West Quay is 300 meters long with alongside depth of 8 meters. Its six berths can accommodate 500 DWT vessels.
The Port of Kinuura's West Central piers include six berths totaling 890 meters. No. 2 pier, with depth of 15 meters, are a total 520 meters long and can accommodate four vessels to five thousand meters. West Central Pier Docks 3 and 4 are each 185 meters long with alongside depth of 20 meters, and each can accommodate vessels to 15 thousand DWT. The West Central No. 5 and 6 in the Port of Kinuura are each 240 meters long with alongside depth of 24 meters, and they can each accommodate vessels to 30 thousand DWT. The Handa City South Quay Pier in the Port of Kinuura is 705 meters long with alongside depth of 8 meters, and it contains 13 berths for vessels up to 500 DWT.
Handa City is also home to the Port of Kinuura's Kamezaki Pier with three berths for vessels up to 15 thousand DWT. With alongside depth of 20 meters, Berth 1 is 370 meters long, and Berth 2 is 185 meters long. Berth 3 is 190 meters long with alongside depth of 18 meters.
Four Port of Kinuura public berths in Takahama total 310 meters in length. With three berths for vessels of 700 DWT, Pier 1 is 180 meters long with alongside depth of 9 meters. Pier 2 is 130 meters long with alongside depth of 15 meters, and it can accommodate vessels to five thousand DWT.
The Port of Kinuura has 15 berths in Hekinan City, 10 of them at the Central Pier East. East Pier No. 1 has seven berths with a total length of 630 meters and alongside depth of 11 meters that can accommodate vessels to two thousand DWT. East Pier No. 2 can accommodate one vessel of five thousand DWT, and it is 130 meters long with alongside depth of 15 meters. East Pier No. 3 is 130 meters long with alongside depth of 20 meters, accommodating one 15-thousand DWT vessel. Each Pier No. 4 is 240 meters long with alongside depth of 24 meters, and it can accommodate one vessel up to 30 thousand DWT.
The remaining public wharf in the Port of Kinuura's Hekinan City location is the Shincheon Pier that includes five berths. No. 1 Pier is 100 meters long with alongside depth of 9 meters, and it can accommodate two 700 DWT vessels. No. 2 Pier, with three berths 150 meters long with alongside depth of 8 meters, can accommodate three 500 DWT vessels.
